The Southwest Region has finally earned its place back in Elite Two football after more than two decades, thanks to the remarkable triumph of Kumba City FC. The city of Kumba, which had long awaited such a football breakthrough, is once again on the national map of elite football.
On Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the FECAFOOT Technical Center in Odza, Yaoundé, Kumba City FC delivered a masterclass performance, defeating Titanic FC of Samar 4-0 in the decisive clash of the National Interpools. The victory not only secured Kumba City’s Elite Two ticket but also made them the sole representatives of the Southwest Region in next season’s campaign.
The match began with Titanic FC putting up stiff resistance, holding off the pressure until halftime where Kumba City led 1-0. But the second half told a different story. Coach Bahbo Moses’ boys returned with renewed determination, and within minutes, Wafou Vadoline doubled the lead in the 55th minute. At the 67th minute, a powerful free kick from Nelson Nfor gave Kumba their third, before captain Pento sealed the deal at the 80th minute to make it 4-0.
This milestone aligns perfectly with the vision of the club’s president, Mayor Greg Mewanu, who has consistently championed the dream of “Making Kumba Great Again.”
I promise you that we are not going to Elite Two to stay there. We are going because Kumba deserves it… these are the people of Kumba, and they’ve been waiting for this for quite a while. Now it’s coming back home,” Greg Mewanu declared after the match.
Kumba City FC’s achievement is more than just a football victory; it is a symbol of pride, unity, and revival for both Kumba and the entire Southwest Region.
